The short version

GuideLab is a local desktop app. Your guides, screenshots, and project files are stored on your own computer and never uploaded anywhere. This website has no user accounts and asks nothing of you; the one thing it measures is which pages people visit, counted by Plausible, which sets no cookies and records nothing that identifies you. The Try it demo may ask your browser for screen-sharing permission if you use its Snip button; whatever you capture stays in your browser tab and is never uploaded.

What this website collects

Visiting guidelab.app doesn't set any cookies, and there is no form or signup anywhere on the site that asks you for anything. Page visits go to Plausible, described below. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com / fonts.gstatic.com), which may see your IP address as part of serving the font files. We don't receive or store that information ourselves.

Analytics (Plausible)

We count page visits with Plausible, which runs no cookies and doesn't fingerprint your browser. What it reports back to us is how many people opened each page, roughly where in the world they were, and which site sent them; none of it is tied to a person, and none of it follows you anywhere else. There is no advertising network involved and nothing to opt out of, because nothing here is attached to you in the first place. Their data policy lists exactly what the script sends.

Purchases (LemonSqueezy)

Payments are processed by LemonSqueezy, acting as merchant of record. When you buy a license, LemonSqueezy, not GuideLab, collects your email address and payment details, handles sales tax/VAT, and emails you your license key. We don't receive or store your card details at any point. See LemonSqueezy's privacy policy for how they handle that data.

The "Try it" demo

The Try it tab runs the real GuideLab app in your browser. Its Snip button uses your browser's own built-in screen-sharing feature: your browser, not GuideLab, shows the permission prompt and lets you pick a window or tab to capture. The captured image is inserted straight into the sample guide in that tab; it's never uploaded to us or anyone else, and it disappears the moment you close or reload the tab, since nothing in the demo is saved anywhere.

The desktop app

The app itself has no account system and no backend server of its own. The only network request it ever makes is a one-time license activation call: when you enter your license key, the app sends that key and your computer's hostname to LemonSqueezy's license-verification API to activate it. After that, the app checks your license locally and doesn't contact the network again on later launches. Nothing about your guides, screenshots, or how you use the app is ever transmitted.

Your rights

We hold no personal data of yours ourselves. Your purchase and billing data is held by LemonSqueezy as merchant of record, so requests about that should go to LemonSqueezy directly via their own privacy tools. For anything else, contact us below.
